“Sorry I’m not better looking...” -Spencer Hyde

from the artist:

“Greetings & Salutations!

My name is Spencer Hyde. Thank you for visiting my online gallery. I started this website to have a way to share my art with the world. I hope you enjoy what you see! Here, you will find pieces that I have created in Photoshop, and photographs I have taken on my adventures over the years. I hope you enjoy what you see.

my work:

I am offering an extremely limited number of first release prints of my original digital artwork & photography. These will have no more than 32 prints each. You might also find that my other prints are limited to no more than 300 prints each.

I have meticulously created these works, and spent months and years on some of them. If you look carefully at some of the extremely intricate pieces I’ve done, you’ll notice that I’ve hidden shapes, figures, and images within most of them, especially within my paintings and digital art. I’ve also spent the last 25 years of my life on a computer, taking pictures, using Photoshop, and painting on and off. Obviously, coming from an IT background and spending that much time on a computer had a seriously geeky affect on me, but I survived. The more I grow, and the older I become, the more I realize that life is all about balance; but sometimes, in order to achieve that balance, we have to go full tilt in one direction. That is how my artwork and this website came to be, and will continue to be, as another part of me.

my story:

It’s true, I am one of the most meticulous (yet laid back) people you will ever meet. That being said, when it comes to my work, (whatever its type) I normally find the best way to do it. Some call it luck, some call it chance. The truth is it’s neither. It’s hard-work, dedication, and diversification. It’s a deeply seeded drive to do my very best every single time with absolutely everything I have. I can’t make it go away, and I don’t want to.

Having that drive, enables me to work longer, harder, and affords me the ability to concentrate my energy by taking that drive, channeling it through my creativity, and applying the most strict discipline to it. I am now 35 years old, and starting over… again.

By constantly learning & adapting, while striving to learn the right information and a wide range of different skills for almost my entire life, I’ve been able to train my mind how to train itself. Does that makes sense? I would call myself a perfectly imperfect perfectionist. There, I said it!!

Everything from the initiation of each creation to the final piece of tape that goes on the package you will receive has been done at the highest level, abiding by only the highest standards.

the watermark:

“I’ve been taking pictures with my own camera since I was about 5 years old. What’s funny, is that’s how old my daughter is in this picture. I now have over a million pictures. Most of them are blurry, and probably of her at this point. Isn’t she fierce?” -Spencer Hyde

This is a scan of the original watermark drawn with a ballpoint pen showing SHG.

explanation?

As you might notice, there is a watermark on a lot of my images. This measure has been taken to prevent counterfeit, define my brand, and denote my property. Any prints you order will not come with my watermark on them whatsoever. They will however, become your property with my signature on it. Limited Editions & Originals will have an actual signature in pencil. My paintings, will never have anything but my original signature in pencil on the back of them, and I will never create prints of them. That is why you see “Originals Only” in my logo. Get it?

what makes it special?

Upon the final sale of a given print, the watermark will be forever changed to solid black on my website, and the digital original will be destroyed. Limited means limited and eliminated from ever being reproduced. Any images on social media will remain the same with a low resolution version of the original containing the original watermark. This is my promise to the world, and that’s what makes it special.”
